Herbal tincture is highly concentrated herbal extract in solution. It is prepared by soaking the bark, fruits, leaves or roots of the botanical plants in some extraction medium such as alcohol, vegetable glycerin etc. Tinctures depending on the herb being extracted have many properties: anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, sedative, astringent, diuretic, antioxidant, antiviral, antiseptic, antimicrobial, etc. They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
