Spice is the dried part of a plant that contains aromatic, spicy and caustic substances. It is also known by the names spice and herb. Spices can be leaves, seeds, fruits, roots, bulbs and barks. They are included in the flavoring materials and according to the Greek food and drink code these are those that have a strong aroma and taste and their addition to foods is done to give them special characteristics and to improve their taste. Many of the spices also have antioxidant properties and replace the various preservatives that in many cases harm human health.
