The clove is the flower of the Caryuphylette tree, which is picked in bud and dried. It acts as a disinfectant, antiseptic and analgesic, while it is also said to have anti-cancer properties. In cooking it is used to impart aroma and hot taste, but it must be removed before serving or used as a powder.
